By default, your System Photo Library is stored in the Pictures folder on your Mac, but you can move it to another location on your Mac or store it on an external storage device. WARNING: If a Photos library is located on an external drive, don’t use Time Machine to store a backup on that external drive. I'm running Win 10 Pro v1511 build 10586.314 I'm coming to Win 10 from Win 7 so I'm not sure yet of how everything is set up. I'm looking for the install folder for the Windows 10 'Photos' app.
Years ago, when a local software developer heard of what a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system is, his immediate reaction was, “It is just made up of thumbnails and a database. What’s so difficult about it? We can develop the system in 3 months.” I know he is thinking of the DAM system as a photo library.
So what’s so difficult about it? DAM system is a complex machine. Its functionalities cover far beyond that of a photo library. Take a look at this open specification for the functionality of a DAM system.
In fact, some of these DAM system vendors, whose only product is the DAM software system, invested the entire strength of the company, and spent 3 to 4 years– starting from conceptualising to launching–to develop the system .

DAM system is fast accepted by many organisations in the world as an important tech tool now, alongside with Web Content Management System (WCMS). Prominent programmes are organised every year for both vendors and end users. For example, Henry Stewart Events.
Because DAM is such a buzzword, many non-DAM software vendors will add it in their marketing materials: “We have a DAM module!” Very often, it turns out to be just an enhanced file and folder explorer (In search of a perfect enterprise Digital Asset Management system – Part 2).

The next phase of development for the DAM system is positioning it as a content hub, which supplies media files, documents and metadata to other frontend systems, e.g., Web Content Management System, Knowledge Management System.
So are you looking to install a photo library software or implement a DAM system for your organisation?
Show is Finder is not a switch, that can be toggled on and off. It is just a button, that will open the a Finder window, to show you where the library is.
By default the library is in your Pictures folder, and it will always be visible by anyone who can open your Pictures folder.
System Photos Library Manager
You could remove the Pictures folder from your Finder sidebar, so you do not accidentally open it.
System Photos Library Download
This can be done in the Finder > Preferences > Sidebar.
System Photos Library Login
By default the permissions on a Photos Library are Read&Write for you, but others only can read it. So nobody but you can delete it.
